We Are Witnesses
For forty days following his resurrection, Jesus spent time with His followers before ascending back to the right hand of the Father. Just before He left, He admonished His disciples to wait for the imparting of Holy Spirit, who would then empower them to be his witnesses.
We find ourselves in this role today. We are His witnesses, and every aspect of our being is important in faithfully fulfilling that role. What we do with our time declares what kind of witness we are. Our speech, our hobbies, our dealings with others, our mannerisms, our lifestyles, etc, either add to or detract from our effectiveness as His witnesses.
Father God has determined that we are His method for reaching others for the Kingdom of God. Our verbal witness to salvation through Jesus Christ is necessary in the plan of God to bring others to salvation. The Book of Acts is a record of how He uses disciples just like us to spread the good news of eternal life in Christ around the world. May we give ourselves to that same task in our day.
