Summer
Summer has been a fast paced sprint to see how much we could get done in a short period of time. With our school break shortened this year, we’ve had to squeeze a lot of going and doing into a relatively short “season.” As much as I hate to mention it, school will begin in just a very few days.
With the return to a sense of regular schedule for many families, we should determine to get back to that sense of faithfulness in our church life. First, we must gather, not just for the sake of gathering, but because gathering is an essential aspect of a believer’s life. In Acts 2 those early believers gathered continually for teaching, fellowship, meals, and prayer. Those early followers of Jesus built their lives around other believers in these ways.
Second, we must be diligent in our going, especially as we fulfill our mission with Jesus. We are deliberately seizing opportunities to impact others with the gospel message for the sake of the Kingdom. We are making disciples of those around us, and seeking to present “every man complete (mature) in Christ.” Col. 1:28.
Let us purpose not to just “get back” to what was normal before Covid, but to be even more active than ever in our personal walk with Jesus, in our passion for the things of God, and in our pursuit of His Kingdom.
