Memorial Day
Here we are at the time of the year when we show respect to those who gave their lives in military service to our country. Almost all of us have a family member, friend, or acquaintance that fits the bill. Many young men and women went into war and did not come home. These young men and women never got the chance to grow into adulthood, fulfill their childhood dreams, get married, have children and later enjoy grandchildren. We get to do those things because of their sacrifices.
We owe a debt of gratitude to these life-givers. Even the “bad” days we have are far better than some of the “good” days they endured. We need to take some time this weekend, go to a cemetery, read the names of some who died for our freedoms, and spend some time giving thanks for these men and women, and for their families whose lives were changed forever when death came.
We should also give thanks to our Father for His blessings on our nation. We have been spared great world conflict, and do not know on our soil the devastation that conflict brings.
Let us remember, give thanks, and purpose to preserve those principles for which so many have given their lives.
