Kingdom
We find ourselves in an unusual season of life. For a year now we have been dealing with a virus that has totally disrupted our way of life, and even today with vaccines being administered there is no guarantee that we will return to any sense of normalcy soon. Apart from the virus there are plenty of other circumstances in our world stirring us emotionally, isolating and dividing us.
One of the great threats of such a season is that we will be so distracted that we will lose sight of our mandate for being here. We are here for the King and for His kingdom. We are not citizens of this realm, but of His kingdom, here as ambassadors acting on His behalf. This is the only life we have in which to do so.
Our circumstances have changed pretty drastically, but our mission has not. Jesus came to “seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10) He exhorted us to “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” (Mt. 6:33). We pray “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done” (Mt 6:10). I can’t imagine that He has abandoned the mission because of the virus or any other circumstance. Let us pursue the King, and embrace His mission daily. The kingdom is at hand.
