Are We a Lighthouse?

What an honor and joy it was to accept GFBC's humbling call to be your Minister of Music and Senior Adults back November 5th. So much has happened since then, and God has beautifully orchestrated everything as only He can, to make our transition here such an easy one. We had our house in Morganton, NC on the market only one day and received a cash offer for the full asking price. We found the perfect home in Auburn Estates just 3 minutes from the church, within days of being called here, and were able to close in record time. Only our Lord Jesus could make all that happen, with not one glitch or holdup of any kind. To God be the glory!

From our first weekend here in December, you have all made us feel like royalty. We were invited to multiple Sunday School class dinners, parties, and into homes for meals and special events. We had the privilege of singing "O Holy Night" at the Lighting of the Christmas Tree Celebration downtown. We have already had the joy of singing at Keenagers and the Glennville Garden Club. What a precious and endearing community of believers GFBC is. Carole and I are so blessed to call this our home now, and we pray God's divine guidance and covering for us all in the future.

As a worship pastor I believe strongly in the power of music as a learning tool and as an anchor to hold to. As little children we were taught the song, "This Little Light of Mine" and the words still echo in my mind often. One of the lyrics says, "Hide it under a bushel, NO, I'm gonna let it shine!" Our dear Pastor's message today from Matthew 5:13-16 calls us to remember to be salt and light. Matthew 5:14 says, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." This passage means so much more to me now, after having visited Currituck Island Lighthouse on the Outer Banks of NC last summer. My prayer is that GFBC will always shine brightly in Tattnall county, being a beacon and refuge where the lost can find the Light that is Jesus, and His followers can worship Him with everything that is in us. Christ is the Lighthouse, so call upon Him to infuse you with His radiance daily. Let your light shine today, tomorrow, and every day.

Your servant in Christ, Pastor Phillip
