Walk

“I walked today where Jesus walked,” is the title and first line of an old gospel song.  It is a reminder that we can identify with Jesus walking on the face of the earth.  On our recent trip we got to walk not where Jesus walked, but on streets where the Apostle Paul walked.

On a side trip to the ruins of Efes (Ephesus) we spent a day walking through and hearing the story about many extant structures that made up the town of Efes.  Some of the structures were in place since before the time of Jesus, others were added shortly after His time.  We saw the remains of a two-story library, bathhouses, houses, fountains, temples, and a 40 seat public toilet.  One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Temple of Artemis, was located in Efes.  Still the highlight for me was knowing that the Apostle Paul spent three years in this city.  I literally walked on the same streets where he walked some 2000 years earlier.

I got to thinking of how stirring it must be to go to the Holy Land and actually walk where Jesus walked.  Then He reminded me that I have something better.  He walks with me where I walk – no less real than when He was flesh and blood.  Help me not to miss out on our daily walk.
