Turmoil

“Turmoil” might be an appropriate word to describe our current life conditions.  All around us is unsettledness, chaos, and confusion.  For many these are unprecedented times---we’ve never experienced life like this before.

Such times give us occasion to experience Father God in real ways.  He has given us the gift of peace that enables us to be at rest in our inner man, while the turmoil rages around us.  Every aspect of life may be in upheaval, but my soul rests in Him.

In Psalm 91 I am reminded of all that Father God is and does on my behalf in the midst of and in spite of the turmoil that swirls about me.  He shelters me, He delivers me, He covers me, He calms me.  He gives His angels charge concerning me.  He answers me when I call to Him.  He comes to me, “I will be with him (me) in trouble, I will rescue him and honor him.  I will let him see my salvation.”

I can resist the turmoil, or I can welcome it (cease striving and know that He is God).  When I relax in it, I get to experience Father God in ways I would not otherwise.  He is faithful.  May He reveal Himself not only to me, but through me in the midst of my circumstances.
