Mothers

Every year we come to this set aside Sunday to pay tribute to those ladies who get to be moms.  For many of us it is a time to celebrate a person who has invested herself sacrificially into us, shaped our character, corrected our behavior, taught us about Jesus, and laid down her life to help us have a good life.  For most of us it is hard to imagine where we would have been without mom’s influence.

For others this day is bittersweet.  Many are spending Mother’s Day without mom, some for the first time.  Others rue the fact that even though they desperately desired children, they never got to be mothers.   Some mothers have lost children along the way, and Mother’s Day is a painful reminder of such.  There are a number of reasons why this day may be difficult.

So let us rejoice in all of the ways we are blessed with our mothers, and let us be sensitive to those around us who will have a hard time in celebration.  Let us bless our Father, and let us be a blessing to others as well.
