Choose to Trust

I do not understand the ways of God or understand His will at times, yet I choose to trust Him.  Many things that happen in our lives and in our world do not make sense from our perspective.  A viral pandemic sweeps across the world.  Many are ill to varying degrees, many die.  And to what purpose? This week we have witnessed the “fall” of Afghanistan to the Taliban after a twenty-one year presence of American and Nato forces.  Many Americans fought, some died, all were scarred by the atrocities of the drawn out occupancy.  And again, to what purpose?

I do not have good answers, and even if I did, answers in and of themselves don’t always make things better.  What I need in troubling times is not answers, but “presence.”  I need to know that the Sovereign God over all is “in the house,” and that He is not only for me, but with me.  I may not understand, and I may not like my circumstances, but I am glad I am not alone.  I will choose to trust Him especially in the hard places.
