The Power of Jesus’ Resurrection

Displays of great power often quickly gain our attention and create a sense of awe in us. When we see large airplanes and helicopters fly over us from Fort Stewart, we look up at them, amazed at their power. When you walk down River Street in Savannah and one of the cargo ships comes by close, you stop and look with amazement at the power of this huge ship.

I believe we need to be reminded this Easter season of the attention and awe that should overcome us when we consider the empty tomb of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote in Philippians 3:10, “My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection.”

I want to encourage you with a few things that will help you to be reminded of the power of Jesus raising from the dead. Jesus’ resurrection gives us…

victory over sin & death.

(1 Corinthians 15:54-56)

freedom from sin.

(Romans 6:8-11)

eternal life with God.

(Revelation 21:3)

hope for our future.

(1 Peter 1:3-5)

a promise that we will be made pure until we are made perfect.

(1 John 3:2-3)

joy that we will be reunited with other believers who have died.

(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

confidence that God is trustworthy.

(Luke 24:44-48)

peace in the face of death.

(Hebrews 2:15)

comfort in and from our suffering.

(Romans 8:18)

a new life in Christ and for Christ.

(2 Corinthians 5:14-21)

Love you, Church!
