The Greatest Gift of All

I want to thank our church’s Beautification Committee again for the incredible Christmas decorations throughout the church, and especially the sanctuary. The addition of the lights throughout our worship space interwoven with all the greenery has given such a fresh warm ambience this entire holiday season. Carole and I chose this year to have a freshly cut Christmas tree from Tom’s trees, a local tree farm here in Glennville, and we love the smell and joy of having a real tree in our home.

We have truly enjoyed shopping for just the right gifts for our friends and family. I found a UGA Bulldogs grill tool set for my brother, Glenn, who lives down in Miami. We found the prettiest Christmas tapestry in one of the darling shops down in St. Mary’s last weekend, and gave it to Carole’s brother, Tony, who lives in Jacksonville, Florida. He and his wife Robin, drove up to St. Mary’s to have dinner with us last Friday, and we surprised them with their Christmas gift.

We love our Senior Pastor Brandon, Grace, and their precious son Grayson. On our drive down to St. Mary’s we stopped at the Goodwill in Brunswick, one of our favorite places to shop, and found the most adorable Radio Flyer Riding Horse in excellent condition. When Carole and I looked at each other, we almost simultaneously said we HAD to get it for little Grayson. Finding just the right gift can sometimes be very tough, and when you do, it is so satisfying.

I am sure that the bottoms of all our Christmas trees are adorned with the most beautiful packages of toys, clothes, and assorted gifts wrapped in festive colorful paper and bows. Christmas is certainly about “giving”. It is about our Almighty God loving us so much that He gave the perfect gift mankind needed, a Bethlehem infant born in a manger, not wrapped in lavish paper and bows, but in swaddling clothes.

Let us all be fervently grateful this Christmas season that our Lord God was willing to give the greatest gift of all time, our Savior Jesus Christ. May we spread the word as often as we can this coming year that we are thankful for our gift of salvation.

Your servant, Phillip
