Scary steps
I have recently been receiving the same question over and over. As we continue to meet new people in Cincinnati and across the state, inevitably I get asked “Is it scary to plant a church?” The answer is yes. Uncertainty is scary. The possibility of failure is scary. Stepping out in faith is scary. Church-planting can be scary, but I would not have it any other way, because it is the scary situations that become the arena in which God shows Himself to be all-knowing, victorious, and faithful.
My goal is for it always to be scary. I want Bridge City Church to constantly step into situations that will only happen if God comes through on our behalf. This can be a scary proposition, but it is also a constant invitation for God to do what only He can do. I never want to trade the activity of God for comfort. When we live in comfort, we are far less likely to put ourselves in situations that are scary, which means we will likely experience the activity of God less.
We get to daily decide if we will live in step with God or live in comfort. I would like to invite you into the unknown, into the possibility of rejection, into a step of faithful obedience that requires God’s movement for victory to be experienced.
Bridge City Church continues to take (scary) steps of obedience. We had our first informational meeting this past Sunday night. We had our core team, as well as some other folks who have expressed interest, over for dinner, so we could share more of our heart, vision, & next steps. And guess what? People showed up! Not only that, but we had another person commit to our core team. The grand total for Bridge City Church core team is now 10! God is stirring in the hearts of people, giving them a burden for something new in Anderson.
Next Steps:
Starting this week, we will meet weekly on Sunday nights with our core team. This Bible study will be the group that grows into what will eventually be Bridge City Church that meets on Sunday mornings.
On February 12th we will move into our new home in the Anderson Area. This is a huge domino for us. We will finally be present in our planting community.
Thank you for your prayer, financial, and participation support. Let’s step into scary situations together, and watch God do what only He can do!
Let’s Win Cincinnati!
