Let Us LOVE

We desire to make disciples who genuinely worship, love each other, and advance God’s kingdom.

Romans 12:9-21 is our focal passage this week.

God, through His Word, challenges us to “Let love be without hypocrisy.”

Essentially, that we should not merely act as if we love each other, but to honestly love each other.

In fact, as we observe Romans 12:9-21, our temptation is to do the exact opposite of what God requires of us.

Our temptation is to fake love, to love what is evil, to show no or shallow love, to dishonor one another, to be lazy and passionless, to be in the flesh, to have no hope, to be impatient, to be prayer less, to neglect the needs of brothers and sisters, to persecute those who persecute us, to be bitter at those who rejoice and to rejoice that others weep, to live in disharmony, to be proud, to associate with other people who are proud, to think of ourselves as wise, to repay evil for evil, mindlessly living, doing all we can to be in disunity with one another, seeking vengeance, and ultimately, being conquered by evil.

Since we are tempted to live this way, how could we possibly live in a way that God desires?

Let’s reflect back to the beginning of Romans 12.

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2, CSB).

We must be transformed by the Holy Spirit that dwells in us who have trusted in Jesus Christ and have been reconciled to God the Father.

In view of the mercies of God, let us love.
