Gratitude Expressed

When I was around 7 years old, I thought it would be a good idea to hide in a ball pit in the middle of a Target. My mom called out for me, and I remained still, laughing quietly because of how good I was at hiding from her. Little did I know, my mom went into a panic, shouting “Brandon! Brandon! Where are you?” all over the store.

Before I know it, someone is announcing over the speakers about a missing child named Brandon and who, strangely enough, fit my description exactly. At that point, it clicked that it was time for my game of hide and seek to be over. As I got out of the ball pit, one of the workers saw me and asked me to follow him back to my mom. When we were walking up, my mom dropped all her things and ran and hugged me, then hugged the man who had found me. She told the man, “Thank you so much! You’re my hero today because you found my baby boy."

In Colossians, we see Paul making special notice to thank God always for people. When I think about how Paul expressed his gratitude toward other believers, I’m reminded of my mom’s gratitude to the man who had found her baby boy. In some ways, we have the same opportunity. We are surrounded by others who have led others to Christ. What was lost is now found, and we thank God always for those who have been found!
