Grace in the midst of

As we read through Genesis 7 and the story of the flood, it can become tempting for us to say, “Where was God’s grace in this mess?”

As always, I encourage you to find God’s grace in the midst of the judgment and in the midst of the narrative. Let us look first at God’s instructions to Noah. God easily could have wiped ALL of creation. Instead, Noah and his family live on and will continue to be fruitful and multiply.

Often, we find ourselves questioning God. We may ask questions like, “God, where were You when…”, “God, why didn’t You…”, or even, “God, how could You…”

I don’t believe these questions are bad, so long as our hearts desire is to seek God’s will. However, when these questions stem from a place of bitterness, we can lose sight of God’s goodness.

This Sunday evening, we will take time to discuss God’s grace in the midst of a disaster the world had never seen before and won’t ever see again. Before we get there, though, I encourage you to find God’s goodness in the midst of the bad. To find God’s beauty in the midst of the ugly. And to find God’s grace which is always paired with His judgment.
