Get Up & Run

As we reflect back on Resurrection Sunday, I am amazed at the response of Peter to hearing that the tomb is empty.

Luke 24:12 says, “Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb.” (CSB).

What is our response to hearing the tomb is empty? Do we respond like many of the apostles did, citing “nonsense” (Luke 24:10-11), or do we respond with getting up and running to the tomb?

Some may say that Peter was being his typical zealous self, but I think there is more to his response than we give him credit for.

Peter didn’t need to see the empty tomb. Peter needed to see Jesus.

It is not the empty tomb itself that we have faith in. We have faith in the One who left the tomb. The empty tomb, however, points us in the direction of Jesus, the risen Savior.

May we all respond like Peter. When we have an opportunity to see Jesus, we get up and run!
